Krymsk (Russian: Крымск) is a city in Russia, located in Krasnodar Krai in the south of the country. The city lies on the banks of the Adagum River in the foothills of the northwestern part of the Greater Caucasus Range, 102 km southwest of Krasnodar and 53 km northeast of Novorossiysk. Krymsk is a railway junction with lines toward Timashevsk – Krasnodar – Novorossiysk, with routes heading to Protoka – Starominskaya, Crimea, Kavkaz station (ferry to Kerch), Anapa, and Grushevaya. There is also a military airfield near the city.

Hitchhikers often pass Krymsk while traveling along the A146 highway between Novorossiysk (or Anapa) and Krasnodar, or coming from Rostov-on-Don via toll-free roads toward the sea through Timashevsk. Due to the large area of the city and its many interchanges, it is recommended to choose your car carefully in advance.

Hitchhiking out

Southwest towards Novorossiysk and Krasnodar via A146

Option 1 - Interchange with Novorossiyskaya Street

  • Bus 516 from the bus station stops before the river, not directly at the interchange; you will have to cross the river and the railway tracks on foot.
  • Bus 209 stops only on the highway a bit further toward Krasnodar at the "Ulitsa Shchorsa" stop. You will have to hitchhike from the acceleration lane at the end of the interchange, near the guardrail. There are streetlights.
  • If you need to go to Krasnodar, it may make sense to take bus 209 further to the police checkpoint near Abinsk.

North towards Timashevsk and Rostov-on-Don via toll-free roads of Kuban

Option 1 - Roundabout at the end of Kirova Street

  • Buses 116, 119, Krymsk – Mogukorovsky, and Krymsk – Troitskaya.

West towards Varenikovskaya and the Crimean Bridge

  • You can leave from the same roundabout, but traveling by this road is not recommended since you will have to pass through another settlement, and there is a persistent traffic jam at the railway crossing in Varenikovskaya. It is better to travel north toward Slavyansk-na-Kubani.
