Doğubayazıt is a city in eastern Turkey. It's the last city before the Iran border. The famous mount Ararat (Ağrı Dağı, 5137m) is about 10km from Doğubayazıt.
Hitching out
There's a central crossroad, just north of town, from where you can head to any direction (West towards Erzurum, north towards Iğdır, east towards Iran).
Accommodation and Sleep
There are several cheap hotels at about 25 lira a night (12.5 euro)
- Camping in the surrounding area is very easy and quite beautiful.
Notes
The Ararat is officially a National Park, and prohibits visitors without a permit. Fortunately, there is no such thing as a 'mountain police', and you can just wander around the mountain area and enjoy the sights.
