Hey, I'm joining cause I'm in north Dallas trying to get to Washington State. Not for anything illegal or nefarious, it's for personal reasons. I'm broke, but I also love meeting new people so hitchhiking makes the most sense. I don't really fear the stranger danger cause I can usually tell if someone else is a lonely human and just wants company. I'm a woman so this makes it more complicated, but I always let guys know that I share my location with loved ones just to be like hey if I'm going down, you are too. I looked up the laws in Texas and they're vague enough that I can't just try this on my own without some community/advice cause the messages are mixed... They say you just can't stand in the roadway but then they also have all these clauses that are vague enough to be liberally used by law enforcement like "hindering traffic." So, I decided to google and found this site. I just wanted to reach out to see the best way to get that far and how to link up with people going that way already possibly. I'm an experienced backpacker/camper and have enough petty cash and common sense to not die of dehydration, so I'm not totally ill-equipped to try it. Anyway, I am eager and open to any and all advice. :)
