Tehuantepec is a city in Oaxaca, Mexico.
Hitching out
West towards Oaxaca
There's a checkpoint (reten) a few kilometers outside of town. In July 2013, no one was actually there, so it was pretty lonely and in the middle of nowhere, but there are speedbumps, a little booth for shelter, and all the traffic is going long distance. To get there, just take a combi (5 pesos) toward Jalapa or Golga (something like that) and ask to be let out at the reten.
