Hitchhiking out
North
Option 1
If you're dropped in or start in town your best option is probably the onramp in Skönsberg (62.39733° N, 17.33792° E).There is a shoulder for cars to stop. Even take a short (20km) ride if it brings you to Option 2
Option 2
Torsboda Bus stop right next to the E4 on a straight uphill around 20km north. It's a perfect hhing spot and as a plus there is the Circle K just next to you for WiFi, Dumpsters and of course asking people for a ride! 62.39733° N, 17.33792° E
South
Option 1
For going south on the E4 you can stand next to the road behind the central station. Cars can stop on the hard shoulder.
Option 2
Alternatively you may want to check out the parking lot by the "inre hamnen" (one minute walk from the central station), usually there are a few trucks parked, taking a break, and it should be possible to find a ride to both south and north. Across the small road from here, there is a Shell petrol station and they throw away plenty of sandwiches, sweets and other food; the dumpster is in the back and you may need to jump over wooden fence to get in.
Option 3
Alternatively you can also just walk or hitch along the road all the way to the actually onramp on the E4. There is a good shoulder to stop for cars (62.38102° N, 17.35388° E)
Option 4
A far better place is in Njurunda ("Njurundabommen") but it is located 17 km outside the city center. In Njurunda there is a petrol station just after a speed-camera which ensures that the cars drive slowly and there is plenty of space for them to stop. (62.24743° N, 17.37228° E)
