Nizhneangarsk (Russian: Нижнеангарск) is a settlement with a population of about 5,000, located on the northern shore of Lake Baikal, 23 km northeast of the city of Severobaykalsk in the north of Buryatia in Russia. The main enterprise is a fish factory. There is also a pier here, as Severobaykalsk itself is too shallow for hydrofoil boats to dock. The regional airport is also located here. The name of the settlement is not related to the Angara River that flows from Baikal through Irkutsk; instead, it is named after the nearby Angarsky Sor bay, which receives water from the Upper Angara River.
