Montauban is a medium-sized city on the national road 12 between Rennes and Dinan in France.

Hitchhiking out

East towards Rennes

It is strongly advised not to hitchhike at the exit towards the east of the city, as there is no place for cars to safely stop and let you back onto the dual carriageway.

The best spot is at the entrance to the dual carriageway just outside the city, almost in open countryside. You will have direct access to the dual carriageway. Choose your spot so you are clearly visible to cars, either at the top or bottom of the slip road.
