News 27 September 2025 It is with great sadness that we learnt that on 14th of September 2025 our good friend and hitchhiking buddy Ralf "Platschi" Platschkowski went on his last journey to heaven. Platschi was one of the early Hitchwiki members and played a big role in building the european hitchhiking community. He was co-founder of the abgefahren hitchhiking races and the competitive hitchhiking club DTSG. He was also involved in the organization of European hitchhiking gatherings. Platschi was an inspiring personality, who convinced a lot of people to see the world with the eyes of a hitchhiker. He joined almost every hitchhiking race or gathering in Europe between 2007 and 2011, where many of you would have crossed paths with him. In 2012 he moved to Uruguay, where he lived in a house by the beach with his wife and kids ever since. We will miss you dearly, Platschi and will keep many great memories and travel stories with you in our hearts. We wish you thumbs up, where ever you may be now, and we hope you had a pleasant ride to heaven. The idea here is that profile information is not downloadable in a tabular format at the moment, allowing your profile information to be part of such a downloadable dataset research into hitchhiking research e.g. regarding gender, safety, age can be accelerated.
