León is a city in northwestern Nicaragua.
Hitching out
South/West towards Managua
There's an intersection a little outside of town where all southbound traffic passes before picking up speed on the Carretera Nueva, and all of the trucks coming from further north have to stop and make the turn. You can take a local bus (4 córdobas, or about $.16) from the Parque de los Poetas (one block in front the cathedral) in the direction of the cemetery (but going past it). The bus isn't marked, so you'll probably want to ask someone. Get off when the bus pulls into a bay in front of a park, and it's about 200m to the intersection.
