Kovrov (Russian: Ковров) is the second largest city in Vladimir Oblast, in central Russia. It is a major railway junction on the Moscow — Nizhny Novgorod section of the modern Trans-Siberian Railway. The population is 132,417 (2021). The city is located on both banks of the Klyazma River (a tributary of the Oka), 64 km from the regional center Vladimir and 250 km east of the Russian capital, Moscow. The M7 motorway passes some distance to the south of Kovrov, but hitchhikers can transfer between suburban trains and the highway here.
