Caulnes is a town between Dinan and Rennes on the RN12. It is somewhat strategic, being halfway between the two, as well as between Rennes and Saint Brieuc. Hitchhiking here can be tricky—using a sign or just your thumb, both are options, but the thumb might be better. The location is not ideal if you are dropped off in the countryside 5 km from the town. In that case, go up next to the dual carriageway, taking all necessary precautions.
