Anadyr (Russian: Анадырь) is a city in Russia, serving as the administrative center of Chukotka Autonomous Okrug. The city and the entire Chukotka region were for many years part of a border zone, but as of June 17, 2018, the border zone for this area (except for a few islands) has been abolished.

Hitchhiking out
You cannot hitchhike out of Anadyr. The only possible connection is the ferry across Anadyrsky Liman to the settlement of Ugolnye Kopi. There are no roads leading out of the city to other places.
Hitchhiking in
Most people arrive in Anadyr by plane. The airport is located approximately 12 km from the settlement of Ugolnye Kopi, near the Anadyr estuary. To reach Anadyr, you first take a bus or a ride from the airport building to the 10th pier (about 5 km), then board a boat. The bus and boat schedules are coordinated. Besides the boat, there are also barges, but they do not have a set schedule and depart from Ugolnye Kopi. The boat trip across the estuary to the city dock at the mouth of the Kazachka River takes around 30-40 minutes. When the estuary is frozen, a helicopter operates between the airport and the city, but it is quite expensive.
The Anadyr seaport does not offer passenger connections to America, Kamchatka, or Vladivostok. Negotiating a ride on a cargo vessel is complicated by border regulations and strict rules.
